External wall insulation South Norwood
We recently finished installing external wall insulation on this semi-detached property in South Norwood. We covered the tired-looking pebbledash with bright new render and replicated the original brick detailing at the front of the property with brick slips. The property was in a conservation area so the customer had to apply for planning permission for the works. The only stipulation the council gave was that the front of the house needed its features replicated as closely as possible. That meant reproducing the brick on the ground floor in some way.
Brick slips are a great option for this because they are easy to apply and give a great brick effect look without having to strengthen the system for real bricks (a lot more expense).
The first stage was erecting the scaffolding. Then, the EWI Pro external wall insulation system was installed, dramatically increasing the thermal performance of the house. The render also gave the house a facelift – it covers the house with an attractive watertight coating. The customer chose an off-white mineral render, with brick slip detailing at the front of the house.
Next, brick slips were installed at the front of the house. The customer chose from a selection of colours and textures. The brick slips were stuck to the wall individually using a special adhesive. As you can see, the finish looked great!
